1. What Children and Mystics Know

A 5-Session Video Series

At the epicenter of human existence is an invitation into deep and profound union with God. It alone is the path to experience all the wonder, nourishment, and adventure he created us for. And it is the way to experience Jesus...really. Our journey begins with discovering what children and mystics know.Discussion QuestionsA Christian "mystic" is simply one who regularly experiences the one true God as revealed in his vast, beautiful Kingdom. Given that definition, would you consider yourself to be a Christian mystic? Why or why not?We are all Disciples of the Internet. We live life at an insane pace and take in way too much media. What damage do you think decades of this process has had on your soul?Read Matthew 18:1-10. Why do you think it's so hard for us as adults to embrace becoming like a child in terms of our sense of wonder, humility, and trust?

2. The Refuge of God

A 5-Session Video Series

When the author of Psalm 91 invites us to take refuge in the shelter of the Most High, where does he have in mind? What actual places in the actual universe are we invited to? In this session, we'll explore what the refuge of God is, what comes against it, how we can choose to remain in it, and ways to have a consecrated life.Discussion QuestionsWe're meant to experience Jesus daily—not once in a while or once in a lifetime. How often do you experience his presence? What barriers tend to keep this from being the operating reality of your life?As Disciples of the Internet, we've been trained to expect immediate answers to our questions. Describe a recent example of turning to the Internet rather than God with your questions. What was the result?Psalm 91 is one of the Bible's most powerful passages on God as our refuge. Do you view the spiritual beings, refuge, and dangers it depicts as primarily poetic or literal? Why?

3. Love and Truth as Refuge

A 5-Session Video Series

As amphibians are created to thrive in two ecosystems (land and water), we're made for two realities—the natural world and the spiritual realm. In this session, we'll see what Psalm 91 reveals about the unseen realm, the refuge of God's love, the dark things set against us, and the way to thrive in both realities.Discussion QuestionsA frog needs both land and water to thrive. It was made for two ecosystems—as are we. When you spend all your time in the natural realm and none in the unseen realm of God's Kingdom, what effect does that have on your heart and soul? The worldview of Psalm 91 reflects both the refuge and protection of God as well as the danger of dark spiritual forces that are set against us. Which seems more real to you any given day? Why?Psalm 91:1-2 declares, "Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of theAlmighty...He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him" (NLT). What is finding this rest contingent upon? What happens when we look to God as one of many options rather than as our only source for refuge?

4. Jesus: The Integrating Center of All Things

A 5-Session Video Series

Union with God is essential for every aspect of life—including our trauma. If we are truly to find the full refuge of God and his Kingdom, we must pursue healing for the vulnerable and traumatized places within us. In this session, we'll explore how Jesus alone can reintegrate our fragmented parts, because he is the integrating center of our humanity.Discussion QuestionsJesus is the integrating center of all things. What hope does this hold for us in this particular moment of immense human brokenness and trauma?Christ holds all things together—while the enemy is relentlessly focused on unmaking all things. What is a current example of this de-creation that you've seen—whether on a global, national, or personal level?Jesus brings shalom, or wholeness, by gently putting the fragmented pieces of our lives back together. How would you most like him to reintegrate your life and make you whole?

5. The Wonders of God's Kingdom

A 5-Session Video Series

We need the nourishment of God to flourish, especially in an hour like this one. In this final session, we'll explore the vast Kingdom resources we have access to—such as the river of life, God's breath in us, and his angels to protect us. Remember, the goal isn't to have fantastic encounters with God. It is to have union with God.Discussion QuestionsWe're meant to experience Jesus and the refuge of God on a daily basis—not occasionally or once in a lifetime. Why do you think most believers have grown comfortable with rarely, if ever, having meaningful encounters with Jesus? Where are you now on this journey? The breath of God can fill us as well as protect us from the forces of darkness. What is a current situation where you need the breath of God? Will you pause and ask for God's breath to fill and protect you right now?An ordinary mystic's goal is not fantastic encounters with God. It is union with God. Why do you think this distinction is essential for those who want to experience more of Jesus?
