Schedule
Check-in will occur from 4:00-5:30 pm on Thursday. Followed by dinner and the evening session. You DO NOT want to miss Thursday's evening session as it sets the pace for the entire experience. The retreat will conclude at 12:00 noon on Sunday.
Weather, Conditions, and Attire
We will be in the high altitudes of the Colorado Rockies. Due to the low humidity and high altitude, temperatures vary greatly. Boot Camp attire is casual. Bring clothing layers, a warm sweater or sweatshirt, a waterproof jacket, hat, sunscreen, and comfortable shoes. Dress comfortably and prepare for a wide range of weather. Bring swimming trunks for the hot tub. Again, bedding and towels will be provided; however you will need to bring your own toiletries (shower supplies).
Click Here for the current Fraser Weather.
Although plenty of adventure and recreation will be available, much of the time will be devoted to personal reflection on what God is revealing throughout the weekend. We will provide all the information you need when you arrive.
Late Arrival
In the unlikely event that you run into problems with your travel that result in your arriving in the middle of the night, don't worry... we'll still have a place for you. Simply arrive at Crooked Creek Ranch and go to the Bear Claw. You will find instructions there as to how to proceed.
You can download a map of the grounds here.
Preparation for Coming to High Altitude
Resting prior to your arrival is a great aid in preventing high altitude sickness. You will need to be well-hydrated, which means drinking 6-8 glasses of water 5-7 days prior to travel. Once you get to altitude it is too late to get hydrated. You will want to continue drinking 6-8 glasses of water during your stay. Also, do not exert yourself strenuously for the first 24-48 hours.
For those of you who have a prior history of problems with altitude sickness, you may want to check with your doctor beforehand. There is a prescription medication available that may help, but it must be taken 1-2 days before you travel in order to help.
High altitude may affect certain health concerns, such as: a heart condition, a pace-maker, breathing problems, etc. We strongly recommend that you contact your physician before traveling to high altitude. Click here for additional information.
If you have a physical limitation you will still be able to fully participate in this retreat. We will have different adventure activities available; however, they are ALL optional and your non-participation will not hinder your experience of the retreat. Note that Crooked Creek Ranch is a much more accessible campus than Frontier Ranch for those with physical limitations.
