01 – The Strength That Prevails

Resilient Video Study

What if your exhaustion isn’t a failure of faith—but a warning sign from your soul?In the opening session of The Resilient Experience, John Eldredge explores the hidden toll modern life takes on our souls—and the supernatural strength God offers to carry us through it. Drawing from Luke 21 and Matthew 25, John shows how Jesus prepared us for times like these, offering both compassion and practical counsel for how to stand firm when we feel stretched thin.Like camels collapsing without warning after long journeys, many of us have rallied through hardship only to find ourselves tapped out. Jesus calls us to something deeper than survival—he offers us katischuó, an overcoming strength that doesn’t come from trying harder, but from receiving his life into our own. This is the strength that prevails. This session invites you to begin storing spiritual reserves, cultivating resilience not by striving, but by reorienting your heart toward God and learning to draw strength from his presence. Whether you’re burned out or bracing for what’s ahead, this is the place to begin again.Additional resources for deeper exploration • Resilient by John Eldredge – The book that inspired this series • 30 Days to Resilient – inside the One Minute Pause App – A free guided experience to build soul strength through daily practice • Daily Prayer – A grounding way to begin each day with God’s presence • Keep Recovery and Resilience in Front of You – A blog from John on why resilience is vital in this hour

02 – Glory or Desolation

Resilient Video Study

Many of us are living with a quiet ache, sensing the weight of a world in turmoil and wondering how long we can keep going. In this session of The Resilient Experience, John Eldredge unpacks why the times we’re living in feel uniquely draining—and how the glory of God is meant to strengthen us from within. Drawing from Matthew 24, Ezekiel 36, and Ephesians 3, John makes the case that we are living in what Scripture calls “the end of the age”—a time of increased spiritual pressure and global upheaval. But the answer isn’t fear. It’s resilience. And God has made a way for us to receive it. The human heart is now the temple of God’s presence, and His glory is no longer reserved for sacred buildings or distant places. It’s meant to fill us. This glory—God’s splendor, power, and presence—is what brings transformation, endurance, and strength. In a time when many are losing heart or walking away from faith, this session offers a hopeful alternative: a return to the One who fills His people with light, power, and peace. If your reserves are low or your soul feels under siege, this is an invitation to come back to the center—where Christ dwells in your heart and the glory of God strengthens you to stand.Additional resources for deeper exploration: • Resilient by John Eldredge – The book that inspired this series • 30 Days to Resilient – inside the One Minute Pause App – A free, guided program to help you build soul strength over 30 days • Daily Prayer – A grounding way to start each day with God’s presence • Keep Recovery and Resilience in Front of You – A blog post about staying focused on restoration in this hour

03 – Unconverted Places

Resilient Video Study

Why do we keep struggling with the same things, even after years of following Jesus? In this session of The Resilient Experience, John Eldredge explores how times of stress expose the unconverted places within us—the areas of our lives where fear, control, anger, or shame still rule. Drawing from Peter’s denial, the story of Eustace from The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and Paul’s call to complete transformation in 1 Thessalonians 5, John reframes salvation not only as a moment of grace, but as an ongoing process of being made whole. The goal isn’t perfection—it’s wholeheartedness. In a culture addicted to comfort, Jesus invites us into healing that reaches every part of us. This session teaches you how to bring your brokenness to God instead of hiding it, so that Christ can inhabit even the places you’re tempted to keep closed off. Resilience grows as we allow Jesus to transform every part of our humanity with his presence and love.Additional resources for deeper exploration: • Resilient by John Eldredge – The book that inspired this series • 30 Days to Resilient – inside the One Minute Pause App – A free, guided program to strengthen your inner life over 30 days • Prayer for Inner Healing – A guided prayer to invite Jesus into the wounded places of your soul • A Prayer for Mental Resilience – Refocus your thoughts and receive peace in pressure-filled moments • Restoration of the Heart – Session 6: Fragmentation and Healing – A teaching on wholeness, healing, and integration in the spiritual life

04 – The Deep Well Inside Us

Resilient Video Study

Many of us long for more of God—but we stay stuck in the noise and distraction of modern life. In this session of The Resilient Experience, John Eldredge introduces a life-changing practice called the prayer of descent: learning to follow Jesus into the depths of your own soul, where He dwells. Through passages in Hebrews 10, Ephesians 3, and John 10, John reveals how God offers us resilience not by pushing harder but by going deeper—communing with His presence in the quiet center of our being. Our lives are often lived in the “shallows,” constantly distracted. Even our prayer lives can feel surface-level or scattered. But as we learn to move through the shallows and Midlands—our worries, stresses, and fears—we find that Jesus is waiting in the depths. And it’s here, in the deepest places of love and hope, that we discover the strength that prevails. This practice of inner stillness and connection isn’t mystical or reserved for monks—it’s for every believer. The question isn’t, “Will God show up?” The question is, “Will we slow down long enough to notice He’s already here?”Additional resources for deeper exploration: • Resilient by John Eldredge – The book that inspired this series • 30 Days to Resilient – inside the One Minute Pause App – A free, guided journey of daily resilience and soul restoration • Restoration of the Heart – Session 6: Fragmentation and Healing – A teaching on wholeness and healing at the core of our being • Daily Prayer (John) – A full daily prayer to align your heart with God’s presence • The Life Prayer – A simple prayer for receiving God’s life into weary or fragmented places

05 – Don't Look Back

Resilient Video Study

In the final session of The Resilient Experience, John Eldredge calls us to the most important question of all: What’s your plan? We are living in the hour of the ten bridesmaids—and the hour of Lot’s wife. This is not a time for divided hearts or casual faith. It’s time to build a life rooted in God, to care for our Eden hearts, and to make room for the presence of God daily. Drawing from Luke 17, Hebrews 10, and Revelation 21, John urges us to resist the trap of trying to “fit God in” to an overloaded life. Instead, he shows how to create a new rhythm—a sustainable, soul-first way of living that allows us to receive strength, resilience, and joy. Through story, prayer, and personal reflection, this final session helps you name what needs to change in your daily life and invites you to choose wholehearted devotion over comfort or distraction. Rescue is coming. Eden is being restored. But we must be the ones who prepare—who bring oil, build margin, and orient our lives around God’s presence.Additional resources for deeper exploration: • Resilient by John Eldredge – The book that inspired this video series • 30 Days to Resilient – inside the One Minute Pause App – A free, guided experience of daily soul restoration • A Daily Prayer (John) – A foundational daily rhythm to center your life in God • The Life Prayer – A simple, powerful way to invite Jesus into every part of your life • Stasi’s blog: Rhythm and Margin – A reflection on choosing soul-care over busyness
