The Becoming a King retreat is a shared experience of the like-hearted choosing to become the kind of men to whom God is glad to entrust the care of His Kingdom.
Every boy knows he was made to be powerful. As an acorn carries the blueprint of the oak tree, so the heart of every boy holds the possibility of becoming a wholehearted king whose strength brings goodness to all under his care. Yet the headlines often confirm what we know too well from our own stories: the anguished consequences of masculine power gone awry.
Curated and distilled over two decades, the message of Becoming a King offers a path to restore the hearts of men in the image of our strong, present, wise, and loving God.
What would it be like to become the kind of man who has nothing to fear, nothing to hide, and nothing to prove? Join Morgan Snyder and men from across the globe as they venture together to recover strength, and restore your heart as a man.
This Becoming a King Retreat will take place at a backcountry hut situated at the summit of a 11,500' mountain pass near Breckenridge, CO.
We'll meet in Breckenridge at 9am on Sunday the 28th then drive to the trailhead together. We'll return to the trailhead around 4pm on Wednesday the 31st. Participants will be responsible for their own travel. We'll arrange carpooling as appropriate.
Everyone will be required to snowshoe up 6.5 miles with 1200' of elevation gain carrying their own gear as well as help pull the sleds carrying the group food and supplies.
Due to the physical demands of this trip, there is an application process so that we can verify everyone will make it and to better ensure the safety of the group. The primary requirement will be to be able to run a mile in less than 11 minutes.
We'll have 9 participants and 3 facilitators who have years of journeying and leading with Wild at Heart and Becoming a King.
Cost is $250 per person which includes all food, snacks, and drinks at the hut. $100 up front holds your spot.
Participants will need a medium/large hiking backpack, sleeping bag, winter outerwear, and snowshoes (we can help arrange rentals if needed).
There will be no electricity. You'll give up your phones. The outhouse is very cold. We'll melt snow for water. We'll burn wood for heat. The menu will be simple, hearty, real food. There are serious risks. You will experience discomfort and may experience pain.
This is an intensive, not a vacation. There will be some time for hanging out, relaxing, and exploring, but the schedule is quite demanding and every participant is required to attend every session and fully engage in their story group.
