Wild at Heart BASIC
December 03, 2020 to December 06, 2020
Waco, TX United States
Hosted by Central Texas Wild at Heart Band of Brothers

What is BASIC?

Wild at Heart BASIC is Wild at Heart Boot Camp led by John Eldredge and his team through video session in your local area.

Why do I need BASIC?

A man needs a deeper understanding of his masculine heart—and why God made him just like that. What if those deep desires in our hearts are telling us the truth, revealing to us the lives we were meant to live? A man must know he is powerful; he must know he has what it takes. The way we handle the heart is everything. Basic is not a retreat about the “seven things a man ought to do to be a nicer guy.” It is a four-day quest into the recovery of a man’s masculine soul, the release of a man’s heart—his passions and his true nature—all given him by God.

Event Description

Written on every man's heart is a yearning for adventure, battle, and a beauty. A man needs a deeper understanding of why these longings govern him—and why God made him just like that. And he needs a deeper understanding of why women long to be fought for, to be swept up into adventure, and to be the beauty.

John Eldredge, author of Wild at Heart and other books, and the Wild at Heart team developed Wild at Heart BASIC, a Wild at Heart Boot Camp led by John Eldredge and his team through video sessions in our local area. Central Texas Wild at Heart Band of Brothers is hosting our next event Thursday, December 3 – Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Brazos Bluffs Ranch, a private ranch, near Waco, Texas.

In the past, these Boot Camps have only been available to limited audiences a couple of times per year in Colorado and internationally. Wild at Heart BASIC allows Wild at Heart to bring this content to a wider audience. We are blessed and excited to bring this opportunity to central Texas this fall.

This is not a retreat about the “seven things a man ought to do to be a nicer guy.” It is a four-day quest into the recovery of a man’s masculine soul, the release of a man’s heart—his passions and his true nature—all given him by God. It is an invitation to rush the fields at Bannockburn, to go West, to leap from the falls and to save the beauty. For if a man is going to know who he truly is as a man, if he is going to find a life worth living, love a woman deeply, and not pass on his confusion to his children, he simply must get his heart back.

Audience

Due to the intimate and personal nature of the content, the Wild at Heart BASIC Boot Camp cannot be viewed as a father/son event. We strongly encourage fathers and sons to attend, but they will need to participate in different Boot Camps, at least for each of their first experiences of this Boot Camp.

Due to the nature and depth of the content and the experience, Wild at Heart BASIC Boot Camp is not designed for youth. You must be at least eighteen years of age by the date of the event to attend.

New Information from Brazos Bluffs Ranch

The Homestead Heritage community next to Brazos Bluffs Ranch hosts an annual fair the weekend after Thanksgiving. Their fair was postponed last weekend because of heavy rain in the area and will instead be held this weekend of our Boot Camp. It will not impact our event except for the traffic turning onto Halpert Lane off Gholson Road. Follow Halpert Lane to the left turn onto Brazos Bluffs Road and follow Brazos Bluff Road down to our camp site.

McLennan County, site of our camp, has updated their Covid restrictions. Groups of 10 or more must either socially distance or wear masks. This is not a problem when we are in our tents. However, it may be a problem when we gather for our sessions. We will provide masks for use as needed. The owner of the property can be fined if we are not following the county’s Covid guidelines. I assured the owner we will be compliant as needed.

Brazos Bluffs Ranch Story

A tale of nature and beyond
It all started when Lem Brown at the age of 16, and his brother, Joel Brown, wanted to invite people to experience the beauty to be found on their family’s property. They bought a few trail horses to combine with their personal horses for the budding business. Lem constructed a barn near the river, and on March 2nd, 2011, they welcomed their first guests. Since then, thousands of guests have enjoyed the ranch and it is now operated by Lem and his wife, Hannah.

Welcome to the weekend!
