Session 2

The Refuge of God

When the author of Psalm 91 invites us to take refuge in the shelter of the Most High, where does he have in mind? What actual places in the actual universe are we invited to? In this session, we'll explore what the refuge of God is, what comes against it, how we can choose to remain in it, and ways to have a consecrated life.

Discussion Questions

  1. We're meant to experience Jesus daily—not once in a while or once in a lifetime. How often do you experience his presence? What barriers tend to keep this from being the operating reality of your life?

  2. As Disciples of the Internet, we've been trained to expect immediate answers to oru questions. Describe a recent example of turning to the Internet rather than God with your questions. What was the result?

  3. Psalm 91 is one of the Bible's most powerful passages on God as our refuge. Do you view the spiritual beings, refuge, and dangers it depicts as primarily poetic or literal? Why?
