AARON SHORT MA, LPCC, NCC

(STEADFAST, COMPOSED, BY THE BOOK)

Aaron is a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC), Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), and a counselor at Mayfield Counseling.

  • Bachelor of Arts: American Military University. Emergency Management and Disaster Recovery
  • Masters of Arts: Colorado Christian University. Masters of Arts in Counseling
  • Over 4 years of experience with men, young adults, couples, and individuals

Aaron has a passion for helping clients gain greater and greater levels of freedom from the bondage of past hurts, trauma, and woundings. He believes that this freedom is absolutely possible and available to those that truly seek it, and his greatest joy is seeing his clients walk in the strength and beauty that comes from reclaiming their hearts and discovering who they truly are. He believes strongly in the idea that we live in a world at war, emotionally and spiritually, and desires to engage with clients and fight alongside them to reclaim what has been lost, free what has been imprisoned, and wake up what has fallen dormant.

Aaron recognizes the multidimensional reality of an individual and that there are physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of every concern that is brought through his door. He works to address these areas to the degree desired by the client and seeks to work in a strong partnership with his clients to develop their individual plan for counseling. Aaron believes strongly in the foundational principle that through understanding our motivations and roots of behavior there can be life changing insight. This followed by a plan for lasting change can often be a successful avenue towards freedom and the life his clients hope to live.

He is certified in Prepare Enrich marriage and pre-marriage counseling, utilizes the Gottman Method Couples Therapy, has worked with addictions and is a member of Celebrate Recovery, and is a Ransomed Heart Alumni.

Aaron has a passion for setting captives free, to the degree that he and his wife are undertaking work in SE Asia designed to facilitate a restoration campus for survivors from human trafficking to receive counseling and vocational training. He recently returned from a three month scouting trip in the region and continues to work diligently towards this goal.

Aaron leads counseling with men, young adults, teens, and other individuals that are seeking freedom from the shackles that pain and emotional injury have placed on them. He believes it is available to all and is excited for the opportunity to work with those that seek it.

TESTIMONIALS

Written by S.T on 12/31/15 after counseling with Aaron for 2 weeks on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, relationship, and self esteem

I've been working with Aaron Short for the past few weeks and I have to say that I was so lucky to be matched to with such a great counselor! Aaron has helped me deal with issues that I've had for years. I've sincerely appreciated all the amazing advice he's offered, all the while remaining patient, kind and understanding. His fresh approach to dealing with my situations have been extremely instrumental in helping me move forward in life. I can't speak for all couselors, but knowing that there's someone there that's truly invested in assisting you in becoming the best version of yourself is extra comforting.

Aaron is clear, concise and offers very thought evoking advice that has set me back on track. He is encouraging, but moreover has a knack for writing, as he asks important questions that point you in a direction and help you discover the answers for yourself.

Aaron was the second counselor I spoke with (first one just didn't match what I was searching for) and his replies are so in depth and empathetic and I always look forward to reading them. I very much value what he has communicated so far and really look forward to speaking with him more in the future.
