The Becoming a King retreat is a shared experience of the like-hearted choosing to become the kind of men to whom God is glad to entrust the care of His Kingdom.
Every boy knows he was made to be powerful. As an acorn carries the blueprint of the oak tree, so the heart of every boy holds the possibility of becoming a wholehearted king whose strength brings goodness to all under his care. Yet the headlines often confirm what we know too well from our own stories: the anguished consequences of masculine power gone awry.
Curated and distilled over two decades, the message of Becoming a King offers a path to restore the hearts of men in the image of our strong, present, wise, and loving God.
What would it be like to become the kind of man who has nothing to fear, nothing to hide, and nothing to prove? Join Morgan Snyder and men from across the globe as they venture together to recover strength, and restore your heart as a man.

This Becoming a King Retreat is taking place at a backcountry hut deep in the Rocky Mountains at an elevation of 10,878 feet! Participants are required to hike up an elevation gain of 1,221 feet over a distance of 3 miles carrying their own sleeping bag, pillow, clothes, and personal items.
We will be meeting at the trailhead at 1pm on Thursday, June 29th and will get back to the trailhead around noon on Sunday, July 2nd.
This retreat can accommodate up to 12 participants (18+) and three facilitators (there will be a waiting list in the event someone needs to drop out).
I will be facilitating this retreat along with two other men whom I personally hold in high regard, have a deep passion for ministering to men, and have a long history with Wild at Heart and Become Good Soil as participants and leaders.
Participants must get themselves to the trailhead in Garfield, CO, but carpooling arrangements will be made to the best of our ability.
Cost is $100/person which includes all content, lodging, and food. Sending the $100 via check, PayPal, or Venmo secures your spot.
This retreat will end up costing us an additional $75-$100 per person with food, etc. included, but we don't want price to be a reason for not attending. We will have a "pay it forward" model for those who want to support this effort and have the means to do so. Funds collected above the final cost will directly reduce the base price for future Becoming a King retreat participants.
The hut is heated by wood-burning stove, has no available electricity, and unreliable cell service. We will be sleeping on bunk beds in a shared room. There are multiple alpine lakes accessible along the three miles of the Colorado Trail that go up the valley, topping out at a beautiful 12,120ft mountain pass.
I have extensive Colorado backcountry experience over the last 17 years, including leading hut trips like this. I am a certified Wilderness First Responder. I will have a satellite messenger on me in case of an emergency. Additionally, my profession is ultrarunning/backcountry videography, meaning that I am well equipped and confident in my ability to run the technology aspect of the retreat at this hut.
Email me if you have questions or to register.
The high altitude nature of this retreat will require appropriate gear and will exclude some with medical conditions. Feel free to email me with any questions.
If you are unable to attend, your $100 will be refunded at the time of the retreat and ONLY IF the retreat is fully booked. If it is not fully booked, those who cancel will share the cost of the unfilled beds. For example, if two drop out and one gets added, the two would each get a $50 refund. I am funding this personally, so I need to structure it this way.
The ideal age range for this material and experience is late 20s to early 40s. Having first experienced it in my early 30s with young children, I found it to be uniquely powerful for me at that moment in my journey. That being said, any man over 18 will find the experience deeply valuable.
This event is designed to be experienced "off the grid;" we require participants to unplug from all devices. There will be a contact number to my phone and satellite messenger provided for emergencies.
Some free time is built into the schedule both Friday and Saturday afternoons. During this time you will have the opportunity to participate in a hike, leisure time around the hut, take a nap, read a book, etc.
In the evenings, there will be an opportunity to relax, build a fire, tell stories and have fun. You'll leave with new friendships, greater clarity in your walk with the Lord, and inspired to live your life as a man fully alive.
This event utilizes the content provided by the Wild at Heart team in their Becoming a King Retreat (this resource, filmed at a live event, includes eight sessions led by Morgan Snyder). This trailer provides a glimpse into the heart behind the message:
